How much do I need?

That depends on what you’re cooking and if you’re using one or both sides of the grill. Typically, 6-9 pieces of charcoal is a good place to start. Pro Tip: Extinguish coals when finished and use them next time along with 4-6 new pieces of charcoal.

Can I use this in my charcoal kettle or other grill?

Absolutely, NOMAD Fire has incredible burning characteristics and can be used in any charcoal grill/ smoker, offset smoker or fire pit.

Do I have to use this charcoal for my NOMAD?

No, you can use any charcoal or wood meant for cooking. We do not recommend match light charcoal or anything with harmful chemicals.

What makes this charcoal so special?

Most commercially produced charcoals contain filler and additives, like silica sand and sawdust. NOMAD Fire consists of fruitwoods, cassava powder and water. That’s it.

Not only is it 100% All-Natural, its extreme density, high heat, and long burn times make it a perfect option for hibachi-style grilling and smoking on the go.

Overall rating: 4.9106145 / 5 from 1253 reviews.

Charcoal - get some

"Recent new user of these and they take some getting used to but are awesome! Take a while to light and get going, but once they are going they go for a while. No exact calculation how much longer than regular charcoal but significantly longer! I’m a fan and just reordered!"

Q&A

Okay so I'm trying to understand this. How big is the 10 pound box? Is it just 6 charcoal sticks? I see a lot of people just taking all those 6 charcoal sticks from the box and put them in their charcoal chimney to grill some meats or maybe enough for a party. But I just can't get myself to pay $36 if it's only 1 box with 6 charcoal sticks. What I'm trying to get at is, I can only see this being bought for just special occasions ONLY if that's really the case. I want to use it regularly since I grill a few times a week, but $36 will add up a lot. Have you guys made changes from the 5lb box to 10lb box where 1 stick is good enough? It's hard to believe just 1 stick would be enough. I did read somewhere about "each 10lb box" but I want to make sure. Maybe it's 4 boxes holding these charcoal sticks in 1 big box? Let me know!
Hi Danny, Thanks for reaching out. In short, those videos are a bit outdated and showcase sample charcoal boxes we would give customers when we first launched. We now offer 10 lb charcoal boxes for $36 that carry 36 NOMAD Fire bricks. Thanks again for your question!
How do you store and transport the used charcoal? I keep seeing pictures of the coals in trays. I was expecting my coals to come in/with those trays but didn't receive one. Instead, they arrived in a plastic bag within a box. How can I get one of those trays?
Thanks for leaving a question on our site. The trays you are referring to were used when shipping our 5-lb charcoal boxes. NOMAD Fire™ All-natural Charcoal is no longer available in 5-pound increments as we've migrated that product to 10-pound boxes.
Hi, Where can I find smoking instructions for the grill? Also, do you ship to Hawaii. I know it isn't free, but I don't know if you ship at all here. Thnx.
Aloha! We actually ship for free to Hawai'i using FedEx. You'll see that option in the delivery section at checkout. Feel free to reach out directly to Hello@NomadGrills.com for any other burning BBQuestions. Mahalo 🌺
